For a lot of teams the non-con is over and we can sit back and look at where teams are trending at this point. Going into 2015-2016 I thought the WAC would be more competitive than in years past however it looks to be more open than I had initially thought. New Mexico State is the king until somebody takes their crown but outside of Siakam, I am not sure whether their roster is that deep or as talented as years prior. GCU has a great record, but even if they won the conference regular season title and conference tournament, they aren't eligible for post-season play due to moving up from D2. CSU-Bakersfield is always a tough out, but beatable. UMKC has about a .500 record but they have a sizable home winning streak going on, with a huge win over Mississippi State coached by former UCLA coach Ben Howland and features 1-and-done star Malik Newman. UMKC has also played arguably the toughest non-con schedule of the entire conference playing @ Iowa, Minnesota, Louisville, and Oklahoma State. At least 3 of those teams will be in the tournament this season. I was hoping the Vaqs were going to be more competitive this season but with Nick Dixon leaving the team only after as few games and a lot of our veteran talent unable to do anything but sit on the bench due to transfer rules, I can see why this year was going to be tough from the start. Anybody have any thoughts of their own about this season thus far? I am not down in the Valley so I am sure you guys have more of a pulse on the program than I do. All I know is that UMKC fans are very optimistic this season and I have gone to a few of their games this season and I can tell attendance is up. It's hard in a city like Kansas City for UMKC to get any love with the Kansas Jayhawks only being 40 minutes away but people are starting to pay attention to what guys like Martez Harrison are doing, local recruits and casual fans alike. Here's to hoping the Vaqs grow a lot this season and will stay healthy! I hope that our transfers being forced to sit out come away from this season even hungrier.

What I've been thinking is Hipsher didn't really expect to do all that well this year. I feel this was more of a bandaid season. With Joesaar leaving I think Hipsher had to kick start a new plan. Bring in 2 5th year guys just to hold you over till next season. Get green and kimasa as much playing time together as possible. Red shirt major pieces, have them ready for next year and have a troubled 4 star kid fall into your lap. For this year I hope we can compete for at least the middle of the conference and build from there.

Enjoyed the win vs. OLL. Also enjoyed seeing the Elmore boy play for the first time. Appears to be a talented shooter and passer. 5 pts, 5 assists, 3 Rebs and a steal in first half alone. Noticed he didn't play in second half, did he get injured? If so, what and how bad. Any info?

Another good win last night. Was very positive in getting JJ Thompson back. Looking forward to UMKC Saturday night.

Very proud with UTRGV beating UMKC because now I get to do some gloating at work on Monday. I was really nervous going into conference play after the OOC schedule but 4 games into a 14 game conference schedule, we're .500 and it seems as though we can protect the Fieldhouse. Really proud at how all the young guys are contributing. This season might not be pretty on paper when all is said and done but so long as the underclassmen grow this season, it's a win. The Kimasa kid we have is only a sophomore and can crash the boards and is consistent from the floor. If he can learn to draw more fouls, watch out for that guy. Antonio Green is playing good basketball too. Him and Stevie Clark will be a great PG tandem next year.

yea they were really flowing yesterday. The team looks a lot more energized with Thompson playing than without him. Tough game next with bakersfield who I think is gonna end up winning the wac tourney.
Shoutout to the coach who is working with the bigs footwork. All of our bigs footwork are always on point.
The womens team is killing it too. I've been watching them as well.
